Useful Information on Osteopathic Medicine:
The profession of osteopathic medicine was founded by Andrew Taylor back in the 19th century. His approach was depended mostly on the manipulating of bones and joint in order to find the cause of an illness or various symptoms. The name that he came up with for this approach (or practice) was "osteopathy". It wasn't until later, in the mid-20th century that the practice of ostepathy began to gain popularity and become more mainstream.
As of today, the amount of education and training that is required to become an osteopathic physician and practice the use of osteopathic medicine is similar to the amount of work it takes to become a medical doctor (MD).
